And why a tiger?

This is probably the second most popular question we get these days, right after we explain the brewery name (for the answer to that question, see our previous post “What’s in a Name”). We wanted something to represent who we are and decided to reference a “tiger team.”

A project, especially an engineering one, can require a team of experts to come together to work on specialized tasks; this is known as a tiger team. A tiger team was formed to bring the NASA Apollo 13 astronauts back to Earth after an explosion on their service module. You remember that scene from the 1995 movie where the engineers have to figure out how to fit a square peg into a round hole? It’s not quite as famous as the “Houston, we have a problem” scene, but it’s still pretty iconic.

Bringing together the best of the best to solve a common problem resonates with the core values of DBC, so we adopted a tiger as a mascot to represent our brand.

We reached out to Ronlewhorn Industries to help us bring our vision to life. The result is the dope tiger you see on all of our branding today. Next up is to give him a name. We’re open to suggestions… (just not Tony).
